About Supplement Scored

The supplement industry is a $60 billion market with almost no accountability. We score every product on the same transparent rubric. No exceptions. No pay-to-play.

Why This Site Exists

Products can make vague health claims without proving they work. Labels can hide ingredient amounts behind proprietary blends. Most “best supplement” articles online are affiliate link farms with no methodology. The industry grades its own homework.

We built an independent two-tier scoring system. The first tier rates the clinical evidence for each ingredient type on a 1-5 scale - separating what actually works from what does not. The second tier scores each product brand 0-100 on four execution pillars: dosing accuracy, third-party testing, cost per clinically effective dose, and label transparency. The key differentiator is cost per effective dose - not cost per pill, which is meaningless if one product underdoses the active ingredient by 50%.

Editorial Policy

Evidence first. Every supplement type page starts with a thorough review of the clinical literature. We prioritize systematic reviews and meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials. If the evidence says a supplement doesn't work, we say so - clearly and directly.

We verify everything. When we find a claim about a supplement, we verify it against at least two sources. When we find a price, we verify it. When we find a third-party certification, we check the certification body's database directly.

We are honest about uncertainty. “The evidence is mixed” is a perfectly valid conclusion. We specify evidence quality in every claim: “one small study showed” vs “multiple large RCTs confirm.” We never overstate what the research supports.

We don't make medical claims. Supplements are not drugs. We use language like “studies suggest” and “may help,” never “this will cure.” We always recommend consulting a healthcare professional before starting any supplement regimen.

We are willing to say “don't bother.” If a supplement category has weak evidence, we will rate it accordingly regardless of its popularity. If a popular product underdoses its ingredients or hides behind proprietary blends, it gets scored accordingly.

Conflict of Interest Disclosure

We earn affiliate commissions. When you click a product link on our site and make a purchase, we may earn a commission from the retailer. This is how we fund the site. We participate in affiliate programs including Amazon Associates and direct brand programs.

Affiliate relationships never influence scores. Every product is evaluated using our standardized two-tier scoring system. A product from a brand we have an affiliate relationship with is scored identically to one from a brand we don't. Many of our highest-scored products are from brands where we earn no commission.

We do not accept payment for reviews. No brand can pay us to review their product, influence their score, or guarantee placement on our site. We do not accept sponsored content, paid product placements, or “pay-for-ranking” arrangements.

We have no financial interest in supplement brands. We do not own stock in, consult for, or have any financial relationship with any supplement manufacturer beyond standard affiliate programs.

How Affiliate Links Work

When you see a “Check Price” button on a product card, that link contains an affiliate tracking code. If you click it and purchase the product (or anything else from that retailer during the same session), we receive a small commission - typically 4-10% of the purchase price. This costs you nothing extra.

Every page that contains affiliate links includes a disclosure notice at the top. We believe in full transparency about how we make money, and we link to this page from every disclosure so you can read the full details.

Corrections Policy

We are committed to accuracy. If we discover an error in our scoring, evidence summary, pricing data, or product information, we will:

  1. Correct the error as quickly as possible.
  2. Note the correction on the affected page with the date of the update.
  3. Update the “Last reviewed” date on the page.
  4. If the error materially affected a product's score, re-score the product and note the change.

If you spot an error on our site, we want to know about it. Accuracy is our product - help us make it better.

Price Data & Freshness

Supplement prices change frequently. Every product page displays the date when prices were last checked. We aim to verify prices at least monthly for all products in our database. If you notice a significant price discrepancy, please let us know so we can update our data.
